Making Things Sacred
" Stuart Wilde, a prolific and
charismatic author and metaphysical teacher has a lovely way of putting it.
In his book, The Secrets of Life, he has a passage entitled, "On making
life sacred"
How does something become sacred? It becomes sacred by people saying, 'This is
scared.' There is no other way. So Saint Matilda's toenail in a box is
just that, until someone says, "This relic is holy and special." So how do you
make your life sacred? You say, 'This is sacred,' and you treat it that way.
You can make things sacred and bond with things, and love them and enjoy them
and your life will be all the richer for it."

The Breath that moves us
"Our breath is constantly rising
and falling, ebbing and flowing, entering and leaving our bodies. Full body
breathing is an extraordinary symphony of both powerful and subtle movements
that massage our internal organs, oscillate our joints, and alternately tone and
release all the muscles in the body. It is a full participation with life.
The fundamental nature of the breath is that, like life, it is
constantly changing. The breath oscillates. It rocks us to and fro, fills and empties us, expands and condenses. One of the easiest ways to begin to
perceive the this natural flow of the breath is to learn to recognize the basic
movements in the body that are present during breathing. Movement tells you
where the breath is moving...and where it is not. Recognizing these movements is
the first step in getting to know your breath."

Ancient Art of Laying on of hands
"Here's how I first experienced this
energy and still teach it. First rub your hands together to cause
friction, then pull the palms apart and facing each other at a distance of about
six inches. After a few moments, a tingling heat, magnetic, cold or
rippling sensation happens. This is (the) aura, the laying on of hands life
energy. Play with the sensation, tossing the energy like a spongy ball or
pulling it like taffy between your facing palms. Keep the hands apart, not
touching each other or anything else. The feeling grows and finally fades. Try
it again.
At the end of the experiment, run your hands under cool tap water or place palms
to the earth to ground the collection of energies. "
- All Women are Healers / Diane Stein
Truths...
"You realize at last, that no longer need you be
controlled by events, but by your power of thought you control them. You can
bring about anything by your thoughts. That is why this new-found power
can only be used when there is no self left to mar it; otherwise it could so
easily be used for the wrong motive and not for the good of the whole. Used by
that higher part of you only good can be drawn to you and you can create only
good.
This is act secret of creation. What you think, you crate. This is where
your faith and belief must be unshakable. When there are any doubts or lack of
confidence, you are unable to bring about these truths in form.
My wonders are to be manifest in form. Heaven is to be brought on Earth. We are
one. Therefore, all that appeared impossible in the past is no longer so.
Everything is possible.
- The Findhorn Garden / the Findhorn Community
" Art is not a mirror
held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it."
- Bertolt Brecht
"Healing means working
effectively with energy, the source substance of all life. Energy can be
neither created nor destroyed; it is used and returned to the Earth and
universe. It can be used well or wasted, used optimally or
ineffectively, and used wisely or misused. Like electricity, it can be
used for both good and harm....Energy is the cosmic glue of all matter and
the body, as well as of molecules, the nonphysical bodies, and the planet.
Every culture has a name for this. In India, the term is 'prana,' it is 'Ki'
or Ch'i" in Japan and China. I usually call it energy, the Goddess'
life force. To willfully misuse it is to violate the Goddess and to use it
ineffectively is toe miss Her opportunities and gifts. "
- Psychic Healing with Spirit Guides and Angels / Diane Stein
"The Truth is that within
each of us
lies the power
to cast all misery aside
and to KNOW
complete
Peace and Oneness
- to BE that beautiful creation
of perfect harmony
- to truly KNOW (Help) MYSELF"
- Mary Burmeister
"Tantra's main concern is direct and compete
transformation of the whole person, says Rod Styker, founder of Pure Yoga
workshops. "The ultimate passion and driving motivation of Tantric
visionaries was to enliven oneself so that every day could be profound, every experience sacred. Their primary goal was to merge the spiritual and
the mundane, to recognize all life as holy.
"From its early beginnings in India about 5,000 years ago, tantra was considered a radical philosophy by the ruling class, the Brahmins, because if allowed anyone, regardless of social stature, to
practice, and because it honored the role of women. It also encouraged a
body-positive approach to spirituality at a time when the body was viewed as
something to transcend. Instead, tantra saw the body as a vehicle
towards enlightenment and taught that this was possible in this lifetime and
in this form.
"Tantra is Sanskrit for "expansion through
awareness", or "to weave". Tantric philosophy teaches that by weaving
together the different strands of our life experiences (spiritual practice, family, work, joy, trauma), we understand the fabric that defines both our
life and the universe. By bringing the sense of interconnectedness with all
of creation into our daily lives, how we live and relate to others becomes a
spiritual practice, whether we're meditating, massaging, parenting or
managing, doing dishes or listening to music.
"Tantra does not promote instant results. In
its most complete form, tantra, is
about becoming steady and flexible in our bodies, our minds and our lives.
Ultimately its goal is beyond yourself, it's about transforming your life
for the benefit of others and making it an expression of the sacred.

Acupressure
[Definition]
The technique of applying pressure to
meridian points around the body which correspond with specific organs. Developed
in ancient China, acupressure approaches the client as a whole, body, mind, and

Acupressure is performed on a clothed client, and can be done on a table, chair,
standing, or on the floor.
[definition provided by MasseurFinder]
Aromatherapy
[Definition]
The use of plant oils to promote psychology and physical well-being. The ancient
Chinese were thought to be the first to use aromatherapy, but it has been widely
practiced by virtually every civilization in recorded history. In the early 20th

aromatherapy’s benefits from a scientific standpoint, and it is now widely
accepted that the use of essential oils has direct benefit to the body.

matter and spirit.

Jin Shin
Jyutsu
[Definition]
From the Japanese words:
Jin - Knowing/Compassion;
Shin - Creator;
Jyutsu - Art Translated
as
"Creator's Art of Knowing Oneself. This is a form of
body relaxation therapy to get fully attuned within oneself. The
hands do not move on the body as in traditional massage.
For example, one
hand is usually placed under the body at a certain vertebrae.
The other hand is holding a finger, a
toe, the knee or head. The hands will remain on these two locations for up to 5
minutes, then the hands will move to another location, until the 'flow' is completed.
Most clients report a sense of well-being, alert to their surroundings, but not
committed to anything but to feeling deeply relaxed.

This is a dynamic cleansing of the mind, body and spirit of an individual

Reiki system of healing, as all the knots/blocks in the chakras are removed. The
main energy channel from the crown to root chakras are cleansed and prepared for
the lighting of the Kundalini 'fire.'

Rebirthing / Conscious
Breathing
[Bodywork/Massage]
A system of learning to breath consciously rather than allowing the body to
breath in learned (set) patterns which can be disabling to the body (due to poor
habits) rather than assisting (by releasing old habits/patterns). Through
learning to breathe consciously a person is able to redirect the energy that
arises from the inhale/exhale patterns most never think about or question.
Conscious breathing also allow a person to enter altered states of
consciousness. Once termed "rebirthing" as it was believed that with such
conscious breath work, one could journey back to the moment of their birth and
release any trauma stemmed form the birth. However less than 20% actually
regress to birth, so the term "Conscious Breathing" is more correct.
Reiki
[Definition]
An
increasingly popular Eastern healing technique thought to have originated in
ancient Japan, Reiki is an ethereal philosophy about the interconnectedness of
the energy which exists in the universe. It is difficult to describe Reiki in
physical terms. Crudely articulated, the Reiki Master channels the wise and
healing energy from the universe into the body and spirit of a client, to heal
physical, emotional, and spiritual injuries. The Reiki Master himself does not
do the healing, he merely acts as a conduit for the energy to pass into the
client. Sometimes there is direct touch on the area which needs work, but
normally the Reiki Master will keep his hands several inches from the body in
order to help manipulate the energy field which surrounds the body. Reiki can
also be performed remotely, across wide distances.
[definition provided by MasseurFinder]
Sacred Light
[Wyzways
Energy Bodywork/Attunement]
Connects you to the world of
the "devas'. The word
"Deva" comes from Sanskrit meaning "Shining One" and is
usually interpreted as the angel entity of a plant, flower, herb, or tree. Sacred Light is a unique system of energetic energies transmitted by placing the
hands on either side of the head. The energy that is transmitted comes from the
Angels, Devas or Nature Spirits. A plant, herb, flower or tree's energies are conveyed in a light energy form. The effect is
similar to the type one receives while taking in of remedies found in
Bach
Flower Remedies but of a much more
refined and subtle nature. Contact can also
be made with all the angels or devas of the plant world and then those energies
can be 'sent' into a person.
Swedish Massage
[Definition]
Considered the classic and most basic
of all massage methods, Swedish massage was developed in the early-to-mid 1800s
by European practitioners. Swedish massage is a combination
of Oriental
techniques and principles with modern physiology. It seeks to promote relaxation, improve circulation and range of motion, and relieve muscle tension.
It consists of five basic strokes:
Effleurage – gliding strokes with the palms (and occasionally fingertips)
Petrissage – kneading strokes with the hands and fingers
Friction – deep circular movements with the thumb pads or fingertips
Tapotement – brisk percussive movements
Vibration – rapid shaking of the back or limbs
Reflexology
[Definition]
Dating back to the ancient Egyptians and Chinese, Reflexology is based on
the theory that there are reflexes with the hands and feet which correspond to
every organ and zone of the body. In 1913, Dr. William Fitzgerald introduced to
us the “map” of the feet and hands which many of us have seen. Applying pressure
to spots within each zone of the foot or palm has direct effect on its
corresponding part of the body. It is believed to cause increased circulation to
each part, and help foster better function. The goal of Reflexology is decidedly
Eastern, to help balance and maintain the body’s equilibrium. It is effective
for relieving most types of skeletal and muscular pain.

Shiatsu
[Definition]
An ancient Japanese technique which means “pressure with
fingers,” Shiatsu is similar to Acupressure. Utilizing pressure and percussive
techniques with the fingers along the twelve meridians, or energy channels, of
the body, Shiatsu seeks to realign and balance the energies within the body. It
helps relieve pain and stress. Typically performed on a clothed client on the
floor. [definition provided by
MasseurFinder]
Tantra
[Definition]
Most Westerners think of the Tantra as a term to describe a series of sexual
practices used to stimulate energy in the body, (by raising the Kundalini).
Tantra is from the Sanskrit word meaning “text” and that text gave information
to utilize the body’s energy (sexual and otherwise) as a way to become one with
the universe.
Thai Massage
[Definition]
Growing in popularity in the U.S. and Europe, the term Thai Massage most
often refers to Yogic Massage. In this kind of massage, the client is
stretched into various yoga-like postures by the therapist, offering a much
more effective stretch than he could accomplish alone. The postures can be
quite acrobatic, with the therapist sometimes suspending the client in
mid-air with his legs and arms. Pressure and massage strokes are often
combined, as well as walking on the back. These help increase flexibility
and muscle tone, as well as promote balance and peace within the body.
Typically performed on a clothed client on the floor.
[definition provided by MasseurFinder]
The Art of Massage
There are the standards
In every bodywork (massage), there are certain standard items in the place
where you receive your treatments.
For example:
a massage table, the bed, floor, and/or chair for the client to recline
some kind of oil to rub on the body
sheets and/or towels
Then there are the extras
These are the little things that some bodyworkers will include to enhance
their sessions. They might include blankets, using heated oils, soft music, or
aromatherapy.
With every massage, I discover 'extras' that I enjoy adding to my massages, as
they enhance the total experience of my Intuitive touch connection with clients.
Most of the recent enhancements are the infra-structure of the massage space.
You may have already noticed some of them - if you have a keen eye for detail.
Otherwise, behind the scenes, changes recently made are now making your sessions
a very relaxing experience.
Massage Table
Earthlite Spirit™ Portable Massage Table
Standard Table Size: 28 x 73 inches
For additional comfort, I have set my Massage Table on an incline, with the top
body table section raised slightly higher than the feet. Clients report they get
sinus draining and congestion in usual massages that use an improper face
cradling angle.
Adjustable Face Rest The Face Cradle Rest is capable of moving
in and out and up and down for your optimum rest. Disposable face covers are
changed between clients.
Armrest Extension Bolsters These extensions add 10 inches of arm
support width to the table
The Kür Deluxe Cushion System Facerest and Table Pad A state
of the art, temperature-and pressure-sensitive viscoelastic foam that supports
and conforms to a person’s unique features. Better than simple memory foams,
this foam uses millions of tiny cells, each of which independently conforms and
supports, offering firmer support in cooler areas and a softer, plusher support
in warmer areas. This eliminates pressure on sensitive areas, like the sinuses
(pressing on the face rest), and provides support so soft it feels like
floating!
Table Warmer This device is made to warm up the table before the
client arrives and during the massage. In addition I like using hot towels and a TheroPro pad which uses moist heat fomentation, (the age old process of applying
hot moist substances to the body for the purpose of relieving pain).
Bolsters Usually placed under the knees while laying face up or under the ankles
while face down (both positions support the lower back and reduce pressure on
lower legs). I have several bolsters in different sizes to match all body types.
Herbals
Over the years, I have used several 'specialized' lotions that were especially
suited for different ailments. I am an herbalist, (I still make some aroma
therapeutic lotions for selected sessions; Please Inquire in advance if you care
to try one of them). I enjoy using many different types of products, especially
those that are unscented, non-allergenic, natural, and are helpful in the
healing work.
Many people these days are very sensitive to scents and aromas. Even though I
enjoy a variety of scented products and create some wonderful bath/shower and
perfumes, I respect the wishes of my clients for non-scented lotions. All my
products are un-scented and natural. I usually use Almond Oil and an unscented
powder that has leaves no scent and is safe for the body.
However I do enjoy working with Aromatherapy especially in
preparing the Massage Space. I will use sage to cleanse the space after a
massage but enjoy using a scent to bless the space before the client arrives.
Please let me know if you wish the have the space as unscented as possible and I
will make every effort to achieve this by not using the aromatherapy lamp.
Clothing/Draping
As the masseur, I like to provide an atmosphere of total relaxation and
comfortable enjoyment. I encourage my clients to remove clothing only if
appropriate and only to their comfort level. Usually the client is covered with
a sheet during massage and some of the bodywork sessions are performed totally
clothed. I usually clothe in a T-shirt and loose fitting pants, sox, no shoes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Cancellation / Late Arrival Policy
Everyone experiences moments in their life that happen unexpectedly and
sometimes these moments occur after you have booked a massage, or are on your
way to the massage. Occasionally there may not be another client after you and
your late arrival will not interfere with the next scheduled client. Be aware
that this is your time, hence your session time will be deducted from your late
arrival. If you do not call and are more than 15 minutes late, the session will
be considered cancelled. Clients who cancel without prior notice will be fully
charged for that session. So please do call (415) 255-1164 {number for last
minute only !}
Payment Methods
Cash is always accepted
Checks are welcome for regular clients only.
Credit cards are now accepted
How the process works: Clicking on the credit card logo
or the appropriate link next to the item you wish to purchase, will take your
browser to a secured link, (notice in the title that it now begins with
'https://"), After completing the process, you will be sent a confirmation
email.
I will also be notified and contact you to verify the date and time of your
arrival for a session or for delivery of the Attunements or other services.
Hygiene
Hygiene means using freshly laundered sheets, pillowcases, and towels. For me,
this includes the creams and lotions as nothing touches you that is not safe.
This means using sterilized gloves and / or finger 'cots' as an option in cases
where the client has a possible infectious condition.
Illness
With colds and flu, it might be best remembered that a massage may often, though
not always, feel better later. Also you as the client might feel better if you
do NOT have a massage while ill. Bodywork hastens toxin release which could
provoke a reoccurrence of your illness after our session together. I, as the
bodyworker, will also benefit by not contracting anything you have while ill, so
that I can further my massage practice.
Skin
Infectious areas of your skin, such as open wounds or sores, may need to be
covered. Should the client or the masseur feel a need for more protection,
plastic or latex gloves are an option. Do not feel uncomfortable either asking
for this protection or receiving this protection. By informing me of potential
problems you are thereby ensuring my continued health, of which I am eternally
grateful.
Digestion
Some people experience stomach distress when laying flat against their
stomach immediately after eating. It's recommended to wait at least one hour
after eating so your digestive system won't draw energy away from the experience
of relaxation.
Other Concerns
Health is an essential question here. Please be open to sharing information
and any concerns you are having. Please inform me, of any potential problems,
emotional, physical or spiritual that you are experiencing, so that I can
'program' the correct focus for your session.
Enjoy
Become informed. In most sessions, I offer suggestions for deeper
relaxation, body cleansing and healing, or other techniques to release tension,
increase focus and expand one's awareness.
